Steel making infrastructure at PrJSC “DNIPROSPETSSTAL” comprises four steel melting shops: steel melting shops No. 2, No. 3, No. 5, and the powder metallurgy shop.
The Powder Metallurgy shop is equipped with a 4-ton induction furnace. To produce over 30 grades of high-speed and tool steel that meet the requirements of GOST, DIN, and ASTM standards, the ASEA-STORA process is ised (cold and hot isostatic pressing at temperatures of 1100-1150°C and a pressure of 1000 atm.)
In Steel Melting shop No.2 steel is smelted in an open electric-arc furnace followed by blowing in an argon-oxygen converter and processing in a ladle furnace. This process allows for the production of low-carbon corrosion resistant stainless steel. The shop is equipped with an 8-ton induction furnace for the production of heat-resistant steels and special alloys.
In Steel Melting shop No.3 high-quality steel is produced by processing semi-finished products in a Danieli ladle furnace followed by vacuum treatment of the melt in a Mannesmann Demag vacuum degasser.
Steel Melting shop No.5 is equipped with ESR and VAR furnaces of various capacities, enabling the production of ingots weighing 0.9-6.0 tons. The ESR technology enables the production of steel and special alloys used the most critical industrial sectors: aviation, defense, as well as thermal and nuclear power generation.

The steel processing infrastructure at PrJSC “DNIPROSPETSSTAL” is a comprehensive industrial complex encompassing rolling, forging, forging and pressing, heat-treatment and metal surface finishing shops.
In the Rolling shop the 1050/950 blooming mill produces billets for further rolling on section mills, as well as bars with diameters of 130-280 mm. The 550, 325 and 280 section rolling mills produce products with diameters ranging from 12 to 130 mm with a surface finish either as-rolled or mechanically treated. Surface finishing of the products is performed on centerless grinding machines using a fully mechanized process. In the finishing section of the Rolling mill the Loeser RPS 377 machine processes bars with diameters of 120–280 mm from the full grade range, weighing up to 2.6 tons. The equipment utilizes wet grinding technology using a “contact wheel” or “free belt”. All products with a diameter of 20 mm or more are subject to ultrasonic testing in accordance with EN 10308, ASTM А388 or SEP 1921 standards.
The Forging and Pressing shop manufactures large-sized forgings with round, square, and rectangular cross-sections from various steel grades. It is equipped with 60 MH and 32 MH hydraulic presses fitted with 5-ton and 10-ton manipulators. The shop also houses areas for heat treatment, straightening, and finishing of forgings, as well as for ultrasonic quality control of products.
The Forging shop manufactures products from stainless, tool, and high-speed steel grades and alloys as well as specializes in the production of bars made from alloy steel grades that are difficult to deform. The shop is equipped with two radial forging presses with rated capacities of 10 MH and 3.4 MH.
Heat treatment operations on metal products are performed in the Heat Treatment shop and in the relevant sections of other production shops.
Metal Surface Finishing shop performs finishing machining of bars with diameters of 20-200 mm. Final machining of bars with special processing up to a diameter of 160 mm is performed on an RPS 327 machine. The shop is equipped with two lines for turning and special surface finishing. This is where bars arriving from rolling mills 1050, 550, 325, and 280, as well as from the Forging and Forging and Pressing shops, undergo final processing.

PrJSC “DNIPROSPETSSTAL” is a moden electrometallurgical plant that meets the requirements for environmentally friendly production. The Company operates in compliance with standards limiting direct carbon dioxide emissions during steel production to no more than 250 kg per ton of finished product. These figures fall within the limits the EU aims to achieve as part of the European Green Deal by 2050. To reduce CO2 emissions, the Company has implemented a modern dust and gas cleaning system and modernized 15 furnaces for heating and heat treatment of metal. Starting in 2023 PrJSC “DNIPROSPETSSTAL” generating quarterly CBAM (Carbon Boarder Adjustment Mechanism) reports and will export metal products to the European market while providing information on carbon emissions.
In 2025 PrJSC “DNIPROSPETSSTAL confirmed its legally defined status as a “green” electrometallurgy enterprise and received a corresponding certificate from the Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine. This means that the Company produces metal products in an environmentally safe manner.
